WISE Awards 2011 Shortlisting

The Open University-led Teacher Education in Sub Saharan Africa (TESSA) is among the finalists in the 2011 World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) awards.

TESSA, which is helping to upgrade the skills of more than 300,000 teachers in Africa, is among 20 projects, chosen from hundreds around the world, to go forward to the next round of judging. The final six winners will be announced in September, ahead of the WISE annual summit in Qatar between November 1 to 3.

TESSA has created a range of open educational resources which are available free, in four languages, to support school-based teacher education and classroom activities in African primary schools.

WISE was established by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development to aims to promote international collaboration and innovation in education. Its annual summit brings together more than 1,000 education experts and decision-makers from around the world.
