Widening TESSA Participation [complete]

This project is funded by the Commonwealth of Learning with an overall aim to extend TESSA use in primary teacher education programmes at colleges in Uganda and Zambia.  Improvement in primary teacher education programmes will be supported by familarising teaching training colleges with TESSA OERs and this approach to activity-based classroom learning.

Building on activity in 2009-10 the objectives are to:

1. Support rurally based colleges in both countries to embed  the use of TESSA resources in their programmes

2. Monitor and evaluate this uptake and impact of use

3. Disseminate the experiences and extend awareness and understanding of TESSA resources to further primary teacher training institutions in Uganda and Zambia

A booklet of TESSA units is being produced in 2011 and will be used by all the primary teacher colleges involved in Uganda. The booklet contents have been agreed and include 15 carefully selected TESSA units.

The activity in this project is lead by TESSA partners in both countries; The University of Zambia, Kyambogo University (Uganda) and Makerere University (Uganda) together with The Open University in the UK.
